Sleepovers

We had our first camping sleepover this weekend for Katie and Matt's birthday. It was a night full of s'mores, fireworks, flashlight reading, campfire songs, fireflies and rocket balloons. We stayed up late and woke up early and enjoyed every minute. It was one of those nights that I hope they'll remember forever. I will.

Fiddler Crabs

During our time on the Cape we visited the Wellfleet Audubon Society - twice. The second time Mimi came and she caught a crab. With her bare hands. Yup.
Both days were amazing. Both kids were amazed by these crabs - the males have one large claw and if they lose it in a fight, the other one grows large. Handy. They live in little holes in the ground. If it's quiet, they come out - but as soon as they feel the vibration of feet or voices, they scurry back in.
For my own memory - Jason telling the naturalist that he has 80 birds on his life list. Ali buying a box of shells at the gift shop. (reminder, we were ON THE CAPE)

Pajamas and Ice cream

I know the prevailing wisdom says that you shouldn't be seen in downtown Chatham in your Carter's pajamas, but we have been known to occasionally flout conventional wisdom. My favorite thing about these pictures is that you can actually see A and J skipping towards the ice cream store.

Does it get any better than this?

We just got back from our annual family (minus Dave) trip to the cape for the fourth of July. This trip was made even more amazing by the sheer number of family members who we were able to spend time with. From Mimi, Pops, Bubbie, Aunt Tamara, Uncle Brian and Cousin Alex to start our trip to Aunt Ann, Uncle Jim, Cousins Mary, Kerry and Wesley, and Little P. and Auntie Marcia to end our trip, it was full of amazing memories. (Not to mention several too many trips to the Candy Manor. But we won't dwell on that.) We ate amazing food, had amazing weather, slept well, laughed a lot, and even went to Emack and Bolio's for ice cream in our pajamas. (Photos to follow in another post.) There are too many photos to share here.... so watch for new updates this week.
